Meet the millionaires of Congress: Calif. Rep. Darrell Issa ranked wealthiest with $355 million leaving N.Y. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand listed as 'barely in the black' with only $166k

Republican Rep. Darrell Issa topped The Hill's list

Hey Darrell!
Stealing autos has been very, very good to you, eh?
Kinda gave you your start.

of the wealthiest members of Congress with a fortune of $355 million to his name. With multimillionaires among the lawmakers walking the gilded halls of power, it leaves others like Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., labeled "as barely in the black" with a net worth of $166,000.

Yikes!
Senator Gillibrand! Are we going to be forced to hold a fund drive for you?

Issa, a California congressman, has a net worth that far exceeds even the second richest Capitol inhabitant, Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, whose wife Linda is the heiress to the Clear Channel Communications fortune.

So, Rep. McCaul doesn’t have to pick fruit from the money tree that attracts so many of our Congressmen?

McCaul has a net worth of $101 million, according to the newspaper's list of 50 top earners in Congress.

No hot dawgs for Congressman McCaul, eh?

Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., the former Virginia governor and Nextel co-founder, came third with $88.5 million.

Sorry, Senator...That’s chump change.

Other “prosperous” politicians include Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., with $24.4 million and Rep. Joe Kennedy, D-Mass., with $15.2 million.

ooo, ooo...I know how Nancy spends her loot! Pearls! Rooms and rooms full of pearls...ceiling to floor...pearls! All sizes...all shapes...all colors!

The GOP nabbed slightly more top earners than their liberal counterparts, with 29 Republicans versus 21 Democrats.

Crap! Dems...can’t you beat them at anything?

The House, with 435 members, also boasts more affluence with 37 on the list serving as representatives and only 13 coming from the Senate.

There you have it! That’s why they are so understanding of how the little people live...What their concerns are...You know, what it’s like for the masses.

Many congressmen who earn considerable news coverage aren't necessarily bringing in the greenbacks.

They aren't?

Likely contenders for the GOP presidential nomination Sens. Rand Paul, of Kentucky, and Marco Rubio, of Florida, are among Congress' paupers.

Paupers? If they get to be president will they get rich?

Paul failed to make the list with a net worth of $455,000 while Rubio actually has a negative net worth of an estimated $190,000.

Marco...get a new accountant...you too, Rand...Is Rand short for Randall?

Of the other Republican starlets, Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., has a net worth of $2.3 million and Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, reported assets of $1.5 million

Do these guys start off rich or do they get rich once they get to Congress?

Of course that's not counting Issa. We know how he got rich. Wink, Wink
.
The Hill reviews financial forms provided by members of Congress from 2012 to compile its ranking, saying the numbers are likely "conservative estimates of a lawmaker's worth."

Yeah...Conservative.
