Like Granny D, I have watched my own beloved country change, and I am angry beyond words about what I see. I grew up seeing America as the equivalent of the movie good guy, the hero in the white hat who came to the rescue of those in need around the world. I have watched in silent horror as the corporations, the captains and the kings of industry, used a comparatively small outlay of cash to buy the Republicans to use as their shills. George W. Bush is the puppet cowboy-king of shills, the proverbial emperor with no clothes. Every day, I watch these evil men legalize, legitimize, and institutionalize robbing the poor to pay the rich. They are carving up America like a giant carcass and doling out choice chunks of its meat to themselves and their cronies. Since the Democrats have been sipping at the same corporate teat where the Republicans have been gorging for the past generation, the fascists are free to do their worst; there is no longer any opposition. There is no one left to stand up for the rights of the American people, the Constitution, or the democracy, which I fear will be replaced by a fascist dictatorship in my lifetime. Wake up, America: we need a REVOLUTION NOW!

But when you look at who owns our media, you have to believe that they're biased against democracy, Democrats, liberals, progressives, and the very marginalized communities I just mentioned.)

Boycotting fascist corporations opens up opportunities for us to form the kind of grassroots community I promoted on this blog after America lost the 2024 election to trump and the rest of miss putin's republicans. We have a chance to build gift economy, bartering, sharing and communal-use goods and services, and a whole lot more ways not only to make sure that everyone--including the most vulnerable among us--gets what they need but also to build true community. I love watching the corporations go under because they kissed trump's ass. Just like tesla, toyota, amazon, facebook, and the rest, if you betray your customer base, maybe you don't deserve those customers.

Seriously, white rural voters have voted against their own self interests for as long as I've been alive--look at Kentuckians re-electing moscow mitch term after term after term, denying themselves every possible benefit from Obamacare and Medicaid expansion etc. etc. etc. What will it take for them to finally wake up and realize that republicans HATE them and want them dead (yes, republicanism, like christianity, is a death cult)? So many recent FAFO videos show maganuts sobbing at how TRUMP has destroyed their lives but blaming "THE GOVERNMENT," NOT TRUMP--not the actual perpetrator. But Angela cites recent polls showing trump's support cratering among his most loyal base of rural whites. Hm.
trump showed us exactly who we are and, in that sense, may be the best thing that ever happened to us because we're finally waking up and having the hard conversations--this is exactly what I said when he "won" and America and the world lost. We have the opportunity to take a good, hard look at ourselves, come to terms with our shortcomings, and build a better America that actually keeps its promises, especially to the most vulnerable among us.
