So we’re strolling around the outdoor market in Madrid and decide to make sandwiches to take on the road as we traveled to Barcelona. We don’t speak a word of Spanish but that didn’t stop us. There were two mature women behind the counter as we ordered a half kilo of salami. The women could hardly keep from breaking out in gaffaws...but that’s not the Spanish word for exploding with laughter. Seems the half kilo we ordered, thinking it was equivalent to half pound when it’s actually a s**tload of salami. Oops! Should have paid closer attention in Spanish 101. Professor Cortez warned us.
