Disgusting!!! Matt Lauer and the rest of the corporate media REALLY REALLY REALLY WANT Trump to win!!!!

Greetings, fellow Dot Calm Readers, Freedom Fighters, and Truth Crusaders!

Apparently, the Enraged Bull Pantomime Blogger (me) is enraged at Matt Lauer and the rest of the corporate media, who apparently REALLY REALLY want Trump to win.

The corporate media continue to give Trump a pass on all his lies and all his slander against Hillary--not to mention all the batshit conspiracies he spews. No fact checking here, nosireebob! Nope, nope, nope!

Then, Matt Lauer grilled Hillary--often rudely and disrespectfully interrupting her before she could even answer the question--and gently, respectfully tossed Trump a series of softball questions wrapped in soft fluffy pillows. As one DKos headline below remarks, Lauer might just have well have asked Trump what he did on his summer vacation for as rigorous as he was as a "journalist." Lauer gave Trump pass after pass after pass; for example, Lauer never once held Trump accountable for his lies about Iraq and Libya. Hell, why not question Trump about his tax returns, his habitual bankruptcies, his child rape lawsuit, TrumPEW, Pam Bondi, and the thousands of times he's stiffed his working and middle class employees out of their pay, including several of his advisers and staff who just quit for lack of payment? If Hillary's e-mails indicate her character regarding the position of Commander-In-Chief, then don't all those scandals indicate Trump's character regarding the position of Commander-In-Chief, huh Huh HUH?!??

And, while Lauer told Hillary only to speak about her own capabilities--which she faithfully did--Lauer let Trump ramble on and on and on about how terrible "Obama and Hillary" are. You'd think that Hillary was Obama's veep instead of Joe Biden. No fact checking here neither, nosireebob! Nope, nope, nope, nope! Conservative Clown Car says that Matt Lauer's performance was "...not merely a failure, it was horrifying and shocking."

I can only conclude that the media and Matt Lauer REALLY REALLY WANT Trump to win.

I guess they figure they're wealthy enough to be insulated from the disaster that a Trump presidency would bring.

Just ask Tony Perkins whether his special privilege insulated him against the flooding in Louisiana.

Disgusting.

Those bastards all need to be fired, and we need to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine and start fining these assholes right out of business for spewing their own lies and for refusing to hold idiots like Trump accountable for their lies. They should all have their licenses revoked. And, after Matt Lauer's pitiful performance as moderator, the Commission on Presidential Debates should replace FUX as the last moderator with Rachael Maddow.

As for Lauering the bar, mebbe ol' Matt was sucking up (well, dunno about "up" but definitely sucking) as bromantically as he could to curry favor for a spot in in the new Bannon-Ailes-Trump-shit (aka BATshit) tin-foil hat right-wing network that's going to make Daily Kos look like FUX Noise once Trump's White House dreams are smashed. Lauer saw the forum as his job interview with the new BATshit TrumpbartTV network.

It's ironic that Trump's surrogates, like Michele Bachmann, claim that there will be no more elections if Trump is not elected. I think it far more likely that there will be no more elections if Trump is elected.

Please, friends--don't sit this one out. As this Internet meme says, there's way too much that we desperately need and fought hard to win at stake...

...even if you only see it as voting against Trump, our future existence at stake--not only as a nation but as a planet. It really is that serious.

Why risk utter destruction when we can haz a good, decent president who I think would actually be stronger than O'Bama? Like I've been saying, I've been grateful that O'Bama has been militarily mellow--we desperately needed a break from all the invasions and saber-rattling. But there are times you need a leader with brains and balls. Hillary has both; Trump has neither. All Trump has is a tiny, shriveled, little gherkin. And yes, I do think Hillary is both good and decent. It took me a lot of investigation to counteract all the negative spin that Republicans and corporate media have been drowning us with about her since nineteen-ninety-whatever...and I've learned a lot more about various politicians' charitable foundations and past Secretaries' of State private e-mail servers and how the media dig their claws into Hillary while ignoring Republican malfeasance. I'm looking at you, Colin Powell...per the headline below about your private server. You really shouldn't fib like that, sir. Why damage your credibility even further? We as a nation stopped respecting you after you sold us out to give baby Bush cover to invade an innocent Iraq. He will forever remain the chimp, and you forever remain the chump. Lying even more now to throw Hillary under the bus ain't gonna get you your self respect back. You should have thought of that earlier, dumbass.

So, remember, boys 'n' girls,

AlterNet: Brown University now provides free tampons and pads in all bathrooms--male and female
...I fuckin' love this story. Not only is Brown acknowledging that menstruation isn't limited to cis-gendered women, but they are also giving a hand-up to lower-income students who struggle to buy food...let alone having to pay up because of their biology. Good on ya, Brown!!!

AlterNet: The 8 most scathing take-downs of Matt Lauer's Abysmal Job Moderating NBC's "Commander-in-Chief" Forum
...I'm relieved I'm not the only one who saw what was happening and is mad as hell about it. To quote the article, "CNN's senior media and politics reporter, Dylan Byers, offered this sober and accurate assessment of Lauer's job:
'Political interviews, forums, town halls, debates, these are really big, significant deals. They’re especially big, significant deals given all that’s at stake in the 2016 election. You don’t send Matt Lauer to do a political reporter’s job. Look, in a debate, it might be fair to argue that you can let the two candidates fact-check each other. But when it comes to these one-on-one interviews, these forums, you have to step up and play that role. That onus is on you, and Matt Lauer didn’t do that. He certainly didn’t do that with Donald Trump. He didn’t do it on the Iraq War. He didn’t do it on a number of other issues and frankly, this criticism that he went a lot harder on Hillary Clinton than Donald Trump, I think, is well founded.'"

Vox: Last night, Clinton got 6 questions on her emails. Trump got zero on his Iraq lies.
...oh, and using a private e-mail server like Secretaries of State before you did does not equate to Commander-In-Chief decisions being made on a daily basis. Clinton has shown she would not make this mistake twice--and I have no problem believing that she--like my incredibly good-hearted, highly intelligent, impeccably ethical father--is just not tech savvy. Lots of people aren't. Doesn't make them bad people, as Dot Calm would say. Doesn't disqualify them for Commander-In-Chief, either. On the other hand, Trump's idiocy, ego, fecklessness, and flippant attitude that often includes disregarding the obvious reality under his orange nose DO disqualify him for Commander-In-Chief. Unless you're a Tea Party Christian champing at the bit to bring on the apocalypse.

Vox: Aleppo, explained for non-experts and Gary Johnson
...Johnson's Aleppo gaffe is a disqualifying statement: it disqualifies him for the office of POTUS. And Johnson is a damn sight more intelligent and rational than Trump, who makes disqualifying statements all day every day! Meanwhile, gutsy Dr. Jill Stein vandalized a bulldozer at the Dakota Access pipeline site. You go, Jill!

Vox: Colin Powell's advice to Hillary Clinton makes her private email server look like less of a scandal
...Here's the article I meant when I addressed Powell in the introduction above, saying we're looking at him. This article is not quite the same level of Republican-damning as the Benghazi report, but it would take a lot of wind out of Republican and corporate media sails if it were to gain some traction in the public square. The Hillary e-mail story just is not as big of a scandal as the media have led us to believe!

Vox: Matt Lauer totally blew it on Trump's lies about Iraq and Libya
...Just the facts, ma'am.

Vox: Trump's solution to military sexual assault wouldn't actually change the process at all
...Nosireebob, wouldn't change it at all. Just make the bimbo report up her chain of command, even if her commander is also her assailant. Trump is now acknowledging that military sexual is a problem. I guess that's a step up from his earlier boys-will-be-boys remarks about, well, you put men and women together, what else would you expect? Um...men to behave like civilized beings? Or should we force women to wear burkas because it's too much to ask men to control their own behavior? Not that rape is about sex
--it's about power, and the military is all about power. And that's another typical piece of Trump misinformation--he thinks that rape is just rough sex. No wonder he stands accused of raping a child.

Vox: Soledad O'Brien: Donald Trump coverage has normalized white supremacy in America
...just as Trump coverage has normalized a lot of bigotry and tin-foil hat conspiracy. Would you believe that my Tea Party Christian friend believes all the Alex Jones and Steve Bannon bullshit about Hillary having "serious" health issues? If anyone has serious health issues, it's Trump--starting with his lack o' mental health all the way down to his tiny, shriveled orange gherkin.

From The National Partnership for Women & Families via Daily Kos

These are the kinds of laws we’re seeing time and again from politicians around the country:

Ban abortion care at 20 weeks.
Shut down reproductive health clinics.
Force women to have medically unnecessary ultrasounds.
Require women to delay abortion care for no medical reason.

It’s shocking but true. Already this year, 445 abortion restrictions have been introduced in state legislatures. Four hundred and forty-five!

These abortion restrictions are based on lies:
Lies about abortion.
Lies about abortion providers.
Lies about women.

Make no mistake: There’s an undeniable outbreak of these “Bad Medicine” laws being passed across the country – from Oklahoma to Florida and from Indiana to Utah.

We simply won’t stand for this!

Sign the pledge to fight back with the National Partnership: Politicians need to exit the exam room and stop playing doctor with women’s health.

At the National Partnership for Women & Families, we've been standing up, speaking out and fighting back against dangerous, demeaning attacks on women’s health since 1971.

We publish the must-read Women’s Health Policy Report and run the Repro Health Watch website, which tracks these very attacks against women’s health in the states. And we recently launched the “Bad Medicine” campaign.

By adding your name, you’ll join thousands of men and women across the country who are saying “Enough is enough!” to attacks on women’s access to quality health care — care that should be based on medical evidence and each woman’s individual needs.

The stakes are high, and we need your help today. Sign the pledge and join the National Partnership’s campaign to raise awareness and protect women’s health and rights.

Thank you,

Our Revolution

A pipeline for fracked oil that would go from North Dakota to Illinois must be stopped. Bernie Sanders issued a call to action to stand with activists who are fighting the Dakota Access pipeline.

Will you add your name to stop this pipeline?

An oil company is trying to build a pipeline for fracked oil all the way from North Dakota to Illinois. It would carry some of the dirtiest oil on the planet and present a tremendous threat to our planet's fight against climate change.

It's called the Dakota Access pipeline, and it must be stopped.

Activists led by farmers and Native American tribal nations are fighting the pipeline with both grassroots activism and legal tools. Bernie Sanders issued this call to action to support their work:

"The major global crisis facing our planet today is climate change. The vast majority of scientists tell us that climate change is real, it is caused by humans and it is already causing devastating problems. They say that if we do not aggressively transition our energy system away from fossil fuels toward energy efficiency and sustainable energy, the planet we leave our children will be a much less habitable place.

"Like the Keystone XL pipeline, which I opposed since day one, the Dakota Access fracked oil pipeline will transport some of the dirtiest fuel on the planet. Regardless of the court’s decision, the Dakota Access pipeline must be stopped. As a nation, our job is to break our addiction to fossil fuels, not increase our dependence on oil. I join with the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and the many tribal nations fighting this dangerous pipeline."

When people stand together, we can defeat the greed of the biggest fossil fuel companies. That's why today we're asking you to stand with the activists, farmers, and tribal nations opposing the Dakota Access pipeline.

Something shocking happened this weekend to the Lakota and Sioux activists who have been protesting the pipeline in North Dakota. The private security firm hired by the pipeline company attacked the activists with dogs and pepper spray.

This is a dangerous escalation by a company that is apparently so desperate to build its $3.6 billion pipeline for fracked oil it would attack peaceful activists.

Because the pipeline would go through their land, the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and other nations have been leading prayer protests for months. Farmers and activists in the way of the pipeline have fought the oil company too.

But it's incumbent on all of us to stand up to this pipeline. For the tribal nations who would have their lands endangered, for the farmers and residents who would have their water threatened, and for all of us who need to fight the effects of climate change.

The good news is that we can win: just this week, another pipeline that would move dirty oil was canceled after months of pressure from activists. Now we must stop this one too.

The first step you can take is to speak out and say you oppose the Dakota Access pipeline and stand with the activists trying to stop it.

When we all stand up to big corporations who want to profit off of climate change, we can win. Thanks for taking action.

In solidarity,

Jeff Weaver

Dear Friend,
It’s incredible. In just a few days, more than 210,000 CREDO members have joined you in standing with the brave activists trying to block the Dakota Access pipeline and demanding that President Obama stop the pipeline once and for all. Hundreds of CREDO members have also started making phone calls to President Obama pressuring him to act.
This is a winnable fight, but with the pipeline company pushing to complete construction, we have to leverage this massive momentum and bring as many people as possible into this fight right now.
We’ve put together a short video to highlight the fierce, grassroots activism being led by local Native American communities and farmers – and to make clear what’s at stake in this fight.
Please watch the video now and share it with your friends.
Hundreds of thousands of CREDO activists, along with our allies across the country, applied massive public pressure on the Obama administration and stopped the Keystone XL pipeline. We know that Obama can act. We have to make sure that he does. Can you spread the word about the importance of this fight by sharing the video now?
Click here to watch and share the video on Facebook.
You can also share the video by forwarding this email directly to your friends, family and colleagues.
In the coming days, we’ll keep pouring calls into the White House demanding that the president stop the pipeline, and we’ll be working with allies to help CREDO members take local actions to stand with the leaders and communities in the upper midwest who are holding the line against this dirty and dangerous oil pipeline.
Thanks for everything you’re doing to stop this pipeline and protect sacred land.

VoteVets

Did you watch the Commander in Chief Forum last night? It was a disaster, and not just because of Matt Lauer's refusal to press Donald Trump on outright lies, like Trump's previous and consistent support for the Iraq War.
But what was really scary was Donald Trump's vision for the future. Trump spent a considerable amount of time trashing American military officers, saying that America's generals have been "reduced to rubble." He made a priority of lavishing praise on Vladimir Putin, and irresponsibly spoke specifically about intelligence briefings he's received since becoming the nominee.

Trump insinuated that he would be fine sending American troops around the globe to plunder enemies' natural resources, like oil. And he spoke glowingly of some of the principles animating the Koch Brothers' campaign to privatize veterans' health.
We have to stop him.
From our large television ad campaigns running in swing states to helping organize the Gold Star Families' campaign, VoteVets has been at the center of the campaign to stop Trump. Last night proved just why our effort is so important. Your contribution keeps us in the fight, and that's why it matters so much.
All my best,

Pennsylvania. Nevada. New Hampshire.
These three states are
critical to taking back the Senate and are where anti-Trump climate voters can help swing the election in our favor.
Daily Kos and NextGen Climate have joined forces to identify voters who will help us win back the Senate and defeat Trump. Once we identify supporters in swing states with key Senate races, staff and volunteers will be tasked with getting those supporters to the polls in November.
Your help would be instrumental in taking back the Senate and defeating Trump.
There are multiple volunteer opportunities available -- anything from making calls from home to texting supporters to social media outreach. You can also hop on regularly scheduled national organizing calls to learn more about the campaign and the volunteer teams. If you have questions during your volunteer shift, you can speak to a real person who is ready to help via chatbox or phone.

Can't volunteer? Click here to chip in $3 to the Daily Kos Get Out The Vote Fund.

Trump has identified Pennsylvania as a must win state. Democrat Katie McGinty is holding onto a slim lead over Republican incumbent Sen. Pat Toomey. Toomey has racked up one of the most right-wing voting records in the Senate and plans to continue pushing an outdated agenda if re-elected.

Nevada Senator Harry Reid's retirement has put Democrats on defense in a tight race. Democrat Catherine Cortez Masto could succeed Reid as the first Latina elected to the U.S. Senate, all while beating Trump-supporting Republican Rep. Joe Heck.

New Hampshire is one of Democrats' best chances for a pick-up this year, and a must-win seat to take the majority. Democrat Maggie Hassan is leading to polls against Trump voter, incumbent Republican Sen. Kelly Ayotte but it's still too close for comfort.

There are only 60 days until the election. These races are critical. Can we count on you to help get our voters to the polls come election day?

From Faithful America--Franklin Graham and the Methodists use religion to spread HATE

Dear Faithful America member,
Franklin Graham, son of famed evangelist Billy Graham, has spent the Obama years repeatedly suggesting that the president might secretly be a Muslim. Now he's touring the country holding election-year rallies at state capitols.
The next big swing-state rally is in Pennsylvania, and the United Methodist Church there is helping him organize it.
The Western Pennsylvania Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church has been promoting the event for months, and next week at least six congregations in the state are sending buses and carpools to the rally.
Graham has a long record of demagoguery and fear mongering, and has recently hinted heavily that Christians should be willing to vote for Donald Trump. At these rallies, he's turned up the volume, alleging that "progressives have taken God out of our country" and want to ban public prayer, and warning that "we've got maybe one election left" to save America.
Methodists have a long tradition of pursuing the common good and promoting civility - but now church leaders are helping create a platform and credibility for Graham's hatred and lies.
Thanks!
- Michael

    Movies!

In honor of my recent science theme, here's a video on James "The Amazing" Randi debunking faith healers, psychics, and other purveyors of woo. I wish my Tea Party Christian friend would watch this. Sadly, he'd never dare...or, if he did, he'd still manage to compartmentalize between the proven fakes and the unproven fakes, as if the unproven fakes are somehow not fake. Is it just me, or does Randi look like Gandalf with his beard when he wears a hood or the right hat?

So...at the Rob Lowe roast, Ann Coulter got roundly booed (for her remarks, not for showing up in her usual eye-holed sheet this close to Halloween)...and, for good measure, she got roasted to a crisp...LOL!!! The jabs are priceless...dee-licious! She got burned to such a char that she hated herself--she looked in the mirror and thought she had turned Black (ba-dum-tish! ...yeah, yeah...I gno...don't quit my day job).

Sorry, Loves--that's all I had time for this time! I iz plum outta steam.
