SNAP benefits–formerly known as food stamps–provide temporary nutritional support to Americans struggling to get back on their feet during these hard economic times.

The program provides about $133 a month to help pay for groceries for a family of four.

This is a small, small amount compared to the $70,000 in subsidies Rep. Fincher received from the federal government last year.

In fact, Rep. Fincher openly supports an increase in crop insurance subsidies–paid for by the same bill that takes food away from the hungry.

Cutting programs for the poor, but protecting the wealthy?

That’s just a completely wrong interpretation of the Bible.

But so Republican.

Last week, Rep. Stephen Fincher of Tennessee voted to gut the nutrition program that helps America’s poorest–citing a Bible verse as justification for his actions! And, while voting to take food away from nearly 4 million hungry people, Fincher collects huge government subsidies for his own farm–$3.5 million since 1999, to be exact.

WTF?

Are we all familiar with LIAR LOANS by now?

Let's review:

Every time a home was purchased an appraisal was done as part of the application for a mortgage. The appraisers were pressured to deliberately inflate these appraisals.

Homeowners realized they were struggling to make payments on a property that was not worth the paper it was written on. (Okay, that may be an exaggeration.)

Many of these victims who were caught in the scam eventually lost their homes and were angry as they were evicted from these "McMansions."

Out of frustration and shame some of the evicted families damaged and defaced the property.
