Do you really want to give the nuclear codes to a man so thin-skinned, undisciplined, angry, and unhinged that his aides had to take away his Twitter account so he wouldn't shoot himself in the foot with it before the election?

Greetings, fellow Dot Calm Readers, Freedom Fighters, and Truth Crusaders!

This news broke yesterday: Director Comey announced that the FBI found nothing substantive or new when they reviewed the e-mails on Anthony Wiener's laptop. Case closed, finally. Hey, FBI--thanks, assholes. I heard on NPR that Comey's last-minute anti-Hillary bullshit maneuver, even if it was for naught, probably cost Dems 5-10 House seats. As Vox says (with entirely too many colons), Election expert: "the race for the House is over: Republicans are going to keep it." For those too young to remember the old-school FBI shenanigans--which took them decades to live down--Vox offers this little nugget: A brief history of the FBI's meddling in US politics. Lovely. I hope O'Bama cleans house at the FBI before he leaves. And I hope that any and all Republicans get their asses fired if they won't do their jobs and approve political appointees if/when Hillary gets in.

The election is winding down along with my strength to fight for what's right and to keep you, my beloved readers, well informed of what's going on.

Didn't the recent election in Canada take something like 7 weeks? And here we are, going at it for nearly a year and a half. No wonder we're all so burned out.

Reminds me of how the stores start advertising for Christmas earlier and earlier every year. They start before Halloween any more. Phuque that--I love Halloween. And Thanksgiving. And, as an office worker bee, I'll keep Indigenous People's Day and Veterans' Day, too, thank you very much. And New Year's Day--especially if I can watch the Mummers' Parade. And football. And cook chili.

Even with the burn-out, I'm still going to post about the election today. Maybe what I post today will help my undecided friends out there vote wisely tomorrow. If I can't convince you to vote for Hillary and vote blue all the way down, maybe fellow-Bernie-voter-turned-enthusiastic-Hillary-supporter Michael Moore can. Just as I've been saying, I've heard Michael Moore affirm that Hillary will never sign a bill that would harm children. Or women. Or families. Or workers. Or minorities. She will never legislate state ownership of your uterus if you have one or force you to use the wrong bathroom or dictate whom you must or must not marry. I've said before that even though Hillary will certainly help herself as president, she will also certainly help us ordinary Americans just as Obama did. Donald Trump will help only himself and at the expense of ordinary Americans who need help the most. Unless you're a rich, white, bigoted male, Donald Trump is going to devastate you. Why do that to yourself--to the rest of us? It's like cutting off your nose to spite your face.

"Democracy Now!" has more fantastic in-depth interviews with Michael Moore here (Michael Moore in Trumpland), here (part 1 of how he became an enthusiastic Hillary supporter), and here (part 2 of the same interview). Michael Moore reminds us that we the grassroots were not active in Obama's term until Occupy Wall Street and Black Lives Matter. But we have those movements now; they're still active and thriving; and we have Bernie's revolution--all of which we can use to push Hillary where we want her to go.

Can you imagine Donald Trump responding to the will of the people? He doesn't even respond to his own campaign people unless they go on television scolding him and telling him what to do. They had to phuquen take away his Twitter, fercrissakes!

Can you imagine Donald Trump appointing Elizabeth Warren as Secretary of Treasury? With Hillary, that is at least possible...

And here's the kicker...here's what Michael Moore loses sleep about: Bernie won Michigan despite Hillary's double-digit lead in the polls, so he doesn't trust the polls not to undercount Trump voters. Don't take what's left of Hillary's lead in the polls for granted--for the love of Pete, friends, VOTE FOR HILLARY and VOTE BLUE DOWN THE LINE!

Friends, we're all in this together. I am doing everything I can to help this election come out right. I've donated til it hurts, so now I have to go without stuff I need. I've volunteered countless hours on this blawg keeping y'all informed. I've donated to Daily Kos for their GOTV effort, and I've volunteered to call people for MoveOn--which was TERRIFYING for me as an introvert--and that's on top of the day job, 3+hours per day on the blawg, and taking care of my dad...not to mention that I worked over 5 hours unpaid overtime last week and 1.5 hours unpaid overtime today on top of my daily 2-3 hour commute (round trip). It's been a lot.

There's not much more I can do between now and the election. Hopefully, I'll be doing my happy dance when next we meet.

Cross fingers!

Here's an excerpt (emphasis mine):
8. Clinton is corrupt
She “put the office of secretary of state up for sale.” — Sept. 28
Calling Clinton corrupt takes the focus off Trump’s own businesses and finances.
There is no evidence Clinton ever put her office up for sale. Neither is there any evidence that Clinton lost $6 billion worth of taxpayers funds when she was secretary of state — another frequent Trump falsehood.
The U.S. Inspector General sent a letter to the Washington Post saying the $6 billion had not actually gone missing. There were simply paperwork problems in the “failure to adequately maintain contract files” in Iraq, Afghanistan and Africa, the Post reported. But it’s all corruption to Trump.
He often describes the Clinton Foundation, a leader in providing life-saving medication to the poor in the developing world, as a criminal enterprise. The foundation has consistently been given good ratings from watchdog organizations.
Conversely, Trump used his own charitable foundation to pay personal debts, made an illegal donation to Florida’s attorney general and stiffed hundreds of small businesses who did work for his Atlantic City casinos, sending some into bankruptcy.
Attacking the honesty of the Clintons deflects from all that.

A variety of factors unique to this election cycle contribute to a voting environment where voters have reason to believe they will be met with intimidation at the polls, accompanied by a very real fear of violence due to the color of their skin or their age.

Click here to call on the federal government to protect voter rights, with a focus on polling places in targeted areas.

Join us in calling upon the Department of Justice to protect the right to vote.

Click below to sign this petition to the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Voting Section:

We urge you to investigate possible violations of federal voting rights laws and intervene where necessary to protect voter rights. A major party candidate is calling for voter intimidation at the polls based on race and age. The threat of voters being met with possible violence from white supremacists and law enforcement at the polls could lead to substantial voter suppression on Election Day. Due to the far-reaching nature of the call for voter intimidation of people of color and youth voters, it is necessary for the federal government to take action in order to protect voters.

Avaaz at the White House election night

Dear friends in the DC area,

We’ve spent months campaigning against Trump’s campaign of bigotry -- and the truth is, we don’t know what election night will bring.

But we do know that when the results are called Tuesday night, we should be together to either celebrate, or lift each other up.

So at 10:30pm on November 8, we’ll gather right in front of the White House to proclaim to the country, the world, and the next president: America is #BetterThanBigotry.

Click here to RSVP and get updates

This epic election has been been exhausting! With so much at stake and a non-stop ricochet of hate flooding the airwaves and the internet, a recent study from the American Psychological Association even found that most of us are majorly stressed, and want it to end already.

Tuesday night could be a night of celebration, it could be a night of mourning, or it could be something in between. But no matter what, we can be there for an uplifting “Flash Choir” -- we’ll have song sheets for a few inspiring American classics led by professional DC area choirs, and an iconic art installation projecting our #BetterThanBigotry message in front of the White House.

Media will be there, and other Avaaz members and staff too. Come sing a few songs with us, and invite your friends too!

RSVP to join in at the White House
Over the last few months the Avaaz community has poured our hearts out into this election year fight -- from registering tens of thousands of US citizens living abroad, to texting voters in swing States across the country -- to rally a critical voting block against Trump. We can feel proud of the work we’ve done.

No matter what happens next, let’s take a moment Tuesday to be with each other, united in defense of the enduring American ideals that matter.

With hope and determination,

Mia, Joseph, Nick, Emma, Ricken, Nell and the whole Avaaz team

P.S. The day after the election we’re also building a massive wall in front of the Lincoln Memorial down on the National Mall, collecting messages from across the country and the world, as well as from people there on site, sharing our hopes and dreams for a country that can move past the divisiveness and bigotry of this crazy election. We’ll be there first thing in the morning and all afternoon, stop by if you can!

BREAKING NEWS: Democrats SUE Trump for Voter Intimidation

Trump is encouraging his supporters to scare away Democratic voters from polling locations.

We CANNOT allow him to get away with it!

Wow, this is huge:

Democratic Party officials in FOUR swing states (Pennsylvania, Nevada, Ohio, and Arizona) just launched a lawsuit to STOP Trump from committing MASSIVE voter intimidation.

Reuters: Democrats sue Trump for alleged voter intimidation in four states.

For months, Trump has been asking his supporters to volunteer to monitor the polls for “voter fraud.”

In reality, Trump’s supporters are participating in a scheme to harass minority voters and attempt to scare them from the polls.

Because there’s a simple truth: If people don’t feel safe, they won’t turn out to vote.

These groups are distributing fake “badges.” They’re videotaping voters without their consent. They’re bringing firearms to polling stations![1]

We were FLOORED when we heard about the Election Day plans of Trump-affiliated vigilante groups committed to spying on everyday American citizens under the guise of “protecting” our elections.

This goes beyond dirty tricks. This goes beyond bending the rules. This is a coordinated attack on our constitutionally-protected voting rights.

And we won’t stand for it. Sign on if you agree:

From Hillary for America--Please contribute now!

Friend --

We are SO close to seeing all of our hard work pay off. I can’t wait -- and I bet you can’t either.

But we’re not done yet. Election Day often brings with it surprises -- we may realize early tomorrow morning that we need to send one more round of volunteers to clinch a key precinct in Pennsylvania or that one more online ad in Ohio could swing the state our way.

You donated this week -- thank you -- but now we must do everything we can. So for the very last time, I’m asking you to make a difference in this race and be one of the 43 people we need from Herndon to chip in $30 right now to guarantee we have the dollars to pull this thing off in the final hours.

The polls have us neck-and-neck -- PLEASE BELIEVE that EVERY dollar matters!

From UltraViolet--Donate now to STOP TRUMP

We've just reviewed the latest round of polls, and it's now clear: Donald Trump is within striking distance of winning the White House.

Trump is winning in states which Obama won in 2012 like Ohio and Iowa, according to the polling experts FiveThirtyEight.1 And states like New Hampshire that were previously part of the Hillary "firewall" are now rated "toss ups" by NPR.2

This is the very last time we will ask you to donate for this election. By tomorrow, it'll be too late to receive your donation and put it to work. Will you chip in $5?

Yes, I'll chip in $5 to stop Trump, take back the Senate, and defend women's rights.

It's not just the race for the White House that's tightening. Republicans are surging in the race for control of the Senate as well. In fact, polling expert Nate Silver now says that Republicans are ever so slightly favored to keep control of the Senate.3

And if we lose the White House and the Senate, then the Supreme Court is gone too.

None of us want to wake up on Wednesday morning, find out the unthinkable has happened, and wish we'd done more.

We're teaming up with Planned Parenthood to mobilize voters in four critical states: Pennsylvania, Nevada, New Hampshire, and Ohio. Together, if we can push Democrats over the top in those four states, then the White House and the Senate will be ours. Will you chip in $5?

Yes, I'll chip in $5.

Thanks for speaking out.

From Daily Kos's STOP TRUMP effort--Volunteer or donate now!

It's not too late for you to help get out the vote for Democrats in key congressional races. It's been a long, grueling campaign season that ends TOMORROW.

Tomorrow we could have a Democratic president, Senate, and House. Progressive policies won't be stalled by partisan obstruction from the right. But it will all come down to turning out people to elect progressive candidates all the way down the ballot!

Sign up now for your volunteer shift to make calls to remind Democrats to get out and vote--and vote all the way down the ballot.

Can't volunteer? Please chip in $3 to support Daily Kos in all our work to get out the vote.

Everything we have been fighting for will come down to who turns out more voters tomorrow. Democrats need to show up in full force, including voting for progressive champions in House races so close they may come down to just a few votes per precinct.

Our friends at the Progressive Change Campaign Committee have made calling very easy. You'll have the training and support you need to make phone calls right from your own home.

Today and tomorrow. That's all the time we have to connect with Democratic voters so they don't forget to vote for progressives in very close House races. We most certainly must stop Trump, but Trump is not the only threat we face from the right.

Thank you for signing up for your volunteer shift, and for making calls to elect progressive candidates down the ballot.

Can't volunteer? Please chip in $3 to support Daily Kos in all our work to get out the vote.

The right will not relent in its legislative attacks on equal rights unless we stop them with a blue wave through Congress. With progressive leaders in the Senate and the House, Republicans and their wars on women, LGBTQ people, and people of color won't stand a chance.

Keep fighting,

Dear friend,
Tomorrow promises to be an eventful day for voters: reports of early voting are plagued with long lines and voters being forced to leave before voting in Arizona, a gun-toting supporter wearing a pro-candidate shirt near a polling place entrance in Virginia, a cash reward offered for anyone catching voter fraud as a poll watcher in Pennsylvania, and much more action planned by white supremacist groups for Election Day.

Tomorrow is Election Day. And voters in critical swing states will be the deciding factor in this election.

That's why Courage Campaign has teamed up with MoveOn.org to help build their massive, volunteer-powered voter turnout campaign. And we’re using Bernie Sanders' "secret weapon" for recruiting tons of volunteers. It’s called peer-to-peer texting.

We have everything you need to text other progressives across the country and recruit them to volunteer, helping make sure we turn out every voter in the places where races could be decided by just a few thousand people.

CLICK HERE to learn more about joining the team and trying this amazing new tool.

Courage Campaign does not endorse candidates. But I think most of us can agree that the thought of a hate-filled Trump presidency is terrifying. And many of us who don’t live in battleground states feel like there’s little we can do about it. But this is your opportunity to make the difference.

Phone calling can be challenging, especially when only a few people answer after an hour of work. That’s where peer-to-peer texting changes the game!

Texting takes less time, doesn’t require any calling, and is more effective at reaching the voters who can decide the election. Getting started is simple. You'll sign up today and then receive an email with further instructions. After a short, self-guided training, you'll be invited to sign up for your first shift. In no time, you'll be texting Democrats in crucial states and giving them an excellent opportunity to make a difference this fall.

With one day left on the clock, now is the time for all hands on deck!

Sign up to today!

Excited to start texting with you!

    ********************************************

    Movies!

ICYMI: Keith Olbermann on Donald Trump's plans for TrumpTV...it's not his consolation prize for losing--it's his state propaganda machine for if he is elected, after which he will shut the rest of our media down.

ICYMI: MSNBC's Chris Matthews on Donald Trump having e-mail troubles of his own--he deleted business e-mails in spite of court orders to turn them over! Make no mistake: Donald LOSER Trump is a CROOKED LYING CRIMINAL.

MSNBC's Rachel Maddow on the Breitbart-"Clinton Cash"-Trump connection. Here's MSNBC's summary: "Spencer Ackerman, national security editor for The Guardian, talks with Rachel Maddow about concerns about connections between the Donald Trump campaign and the FBI, particularly the New York field office, and the apparent willingness of some in the FBI to politicize the bureau to help Trump."

TYT on Donald Trump's public bullying of NBC journalist Katy Tur--sounds like he is attracted to her. As the YouTube summary says, "The implied threat is essentially, 'Nice life you've got there. Shame if one of my insane supporters were to gun you down.'" Tur also told MSNBC's Brian Williams that Trump’s attacks on the press for not showing the crowds are “factually untrue.”

Randi Rhodes on Donald LOSER Trump--legend and president in his own mind. Yup, Comey confirmed his original assessment that Hillary has done nothing worthy of legal action. Oh, yay--Randi voted!! My dad and I are right there withya, girlfriend!

Randi on the FBI, which is an out-of-control ghetto in Trumpland--can anyone get it back under control? Oh, and NC is doing great suppressing Black votes, thank you very much.

Seth Meyers on how the GOP plans to paralyze Hillary's presidency

MSNBC's Chris Matthews--whom Dot Calm lurved--interviewed RUDEy Giuliani trying to figure out what Giuliani knew about the FBI e-mail review when. Trumpists in the NY FBI office apparently leaked word to him before James Comey's vague letter. That means that the NY FBI office has become politicized, and leaking FBI plans to civilians means that it has gone rogue.

TYT on terrorists in Kansas--it's not the Muslims, as listed in the Republican flier, but the right-wing terrorists who call Somalis "cockroaches" and who say that the only good Muslim is a dead Muslim. Republicans designed the flier using polling and psychology--namely, instructional fear acquisition. They're selling fear...hate-based fear...hate-based fear on next-to-non-existent threats.

Bill Maher thanks Donald Trump for proving beyond all shadow of reasonable doubt that evangelicals are exactly as shamelessly hypocritical as we always knew them to be.

Kyle on Secular Talk takes Bill Maher to task for scolding millenials as if calling Hillary the lesser of two evils is lazy or ignorant. Kyle reminds us of Hillary's track record, which it's good to keep in mind. But still--Kyle has said more than once to vote for Hillary because the alternative is too horrific to risk. You know what, though? Certainly, compared to any Republican, Hillary is good. Is she ideal? No--she's not Bernie, and neither was Obama. Even Ike and Jimmy Carter pulled some bozo maneuvers. But just as I still think Obama was a good president, I still think Hillary will be a good president--especially with Bernie's revolution pushing her in the right direction and holding her accountable. It wasn't Obama who moved the party platform to the left finally--it was Hillary. Hillary finally acknowledged that progressives exist, and she adopted two-thirds of Bernie's platform into the official party platform. That's something. Friends, we can work with this. Do you really think we can work with Donald Trump?

TYT interviews Trump supporters who have convinced themselves that, among other crazy things, Blacks are better off due to slavery. Srsly--whiskey tango?!??!??

TYT: right-wingers really don't care about cops' lives. I keep tellin ya: Republicans are the pro-death party.

TYT: Megyn Kelly on Roger Ailes's sexual harassment of her. No wonder Donald Trump wanted Ailes on his team. Two sad little men. No matter what they do, their dicks will never be big enough.

    Time for some funnies!

ICYMI: If the Republican Congress were your coworker

Rachel Maddow: Donald Trump is the greatest baseball player in New York. The sad, fat, puckered, little orange did not intend this to be funny...but it is. It's also scary because this nutbag could end up being president.

Stephen Colbert dons his tinfoil hat to give you the n00z from the right. You know...all that stuff "they" don't want you to know!

Stephen Colbert on how divisive the new unity-celebrating Starbucks holiday coffee cups are...hm.
