Are We, The American People, Being Duped?

Several years ago my husband and I attended a march opposing the war in, at that time, Iraq. I prepared 28 professional signs with the help of my husband, my daughter and her husband. We were up all night getting the signs done.

The next day we "Metroed" to the march site with signs in hand. We gave them out to fellow marchers. That march was dignified and peaceful. It originated in Lafayette Park and went all the way to the White House. Strangely, the march was never mentioned, not a peep, in the newspapers or on American TV. It was weird. It was  estimated, conservatively speaking, there were 500,000 marchers that day in support of Cindy Sheehan's protest against the war of choice that killed her son.

Conversely, the Glenn Beck "gathering" quickly came out with numbers and boasting a list of guest speakers, including none other than Sarah Palin, spreading her words of "wisdom." And, I hear, none of the notes were written on her hand. You go, girl!

Look, folks...we had better rely on The News Hour with Jim Lehrer on PBS along with the many programs on C-Span to help keep us informed. PBS appears to be unbiased, as well as C-Span. The Washington Journal  is on every morning. Calls come in from concerned citizens around the country. There is usually a guest who is representing one of the political parties. The guest answers questions for about one hour. The calls are from Republicans, Democrats, and Independents. A breath of fresh air as we clear our heads of Fox fodder.

Another excellent program is Democracy Now! with Amy Goodman. That program broadcasts on the Internet. DN! offers a clear image of the United States and its role around the world.
