Take another deep breath, keep fighting to save Puerto Rico, and start calling your Congress-critters to TAX THE RICH!
Greetings, fellow Dot Calm Readers, Freedom Fighters, and Truth Crusaders!
Well, we won another victory--we shamed Putin's cock holster into waiving the evil Jones Act for Puerto Rico.
It's only 11 days late, and the reprieve only lasts for 11 days, but, hey, it's something.
Of course, not to do anything even remotely good without counterbalancing it with something a thousand times more evil, the orange loofa-faced shitgibbon is only rescuing Americans trapped in Puerto Rico by taking their passports as collateral in order to charge them commercial travel rates for their rescues (!).
It's shit like this that proves there's no god--if there were a god, it would have zapped tRUmp's fat double-wide ass with a bolt of lightning for even mouthing such a filthy, foul idea.
That said, Royal Caribbean is picking up Puerto Ricans in need of rescue. Good on them! I tweeted them that, if I ever take a cruise, it will be with them--maybe for my dad's next birthday (he's 86 today--have a Fireball, Pop!).
Then we hear that Secretary Pricey [sic] has spent over ONE MILLION DOLLARS of OUR taxes on private jet trips SINCE MAY.
Of course, he blames tRUmp--like all Republicans, Pricey can't be bothered to take personal responsibility for his own actions. Makes him perfect for the tRUmp administration.
Pruitt and Stinky-Zinke are also proud members of the taxpayer-grifted mile-high club.
And you wonder why I refer to the lazy idle rich as freeloading moochers.
You'd think that Republicans, who claim to be the apotheosis of personal and fiscal responsibility, would be up in arms storming the White House ten times over by now.
Can you imagine what they would have done if an Obama cabinet member had taken even one private jet flight on the taxpayer's dime? Or if a Hillary cabinet member had?
I know, I know--file it under the same tab as "deficits," which only matter to Republicans when Democrats are running the show. That's because Republicans like to pretend they're for small government on the one hand while running up exorbitant bills for us to pay on the other.
Get out your checkbooks, friends.
Or not...
If you've been following le blawg, you know that, when it comes to Republican "we'll piss on your head and tell you it's trickling down" tax plans, I've been trying to fight fire with fire by pushing to reinstate Eisenhower's 90% top tax rate but on all earnings.
I've already written a few posts on the subject...for example,
- "GOP wants the 1950s back? I'LL give 'em the 1950s back--MAPA, y'all!" ("MAPA" = "Make Affluents Pay Again")
- "Jefferson Beauregard Sessions & donald john trump tied for Most Punchable Face in America" featuring Dot Calm's shadow's Resistbot Greatest Hits
- "Moar Dot Calm's shadow's Resistbot Greatest Hits" back by popular demand! (Well, not really.)
For example, if it hadn't been for American vulture capitalists and predatory Wall Street banks, Puerto Rico would have had a decent energy grid and infrastructure--they'd have been in better shape to withstand Hurricane Maria, and they would've been better able to recover afterward.
As Janis Joplin mused, it's all the same fucking thing, man.
The greedy Republican rich succeeded in reducing beautiful Puerto Rico to a third-world economy...and now they're coming for the rest of us.
We the People really NEED the money we earn. We're all struggling because, since Reagan, the rich have already been robbing us blind and stagnating our earnings while skyrocketing their own. The more fortunate among us--meaning the middle class--are all one bad car accident or one bout of cancer away from bankruptcy; the less fortunate among us are that much closer to the edge. Friends, we're talking about OUR money that WE earn with OUR hard work--money that the rich steal from us every day. If we can only get it back and put it back where it belongs, working to benefit US, we could all live like sane, civilized human beings with decent jobs, schools, homes, roads, water, air, health care, and food.
And, despite their furor, the rich won't miss a penny.
I implore you, friends, take a deep breath and then get back on the phone to your members of Congress:
- Rebuke them for tRUmp's delays in helping Puerto Rico.
- Rant at them for his intent to charge them usury to save their lives.
- Rail at them for the evil establishment that raped Puerto Rico to begin with.
- Demand that the rich--be they individuals or corporations--pay their fair share into the society that benefits them most.
- Tell them to keep the 25% corporate tax rate, but demand that ALL corporations pay all of it--no more subsidies, no more loopholes, no more rebates--until the national deficit is gone and the national debt is paid. And if the corporations don't like it, make them pay 50% for crap like offshoring and anything else that takes money out of OUR economy.
- Demand that wealthy individuals pay 90% on ALL their earnings, be it wage, investment, or whatever.
Who's with me?
