Happy Dot Calm's Birthday--Let's petition to make it a National Holiday!
Greetings, gentle Dot Calm readers!
Happy Dot Calm's Birthday!
December 21, 1940.
Did you know that Dot Calm and Frank Zappa were born on the same exact day?
Two great reasons to make today a national holiday!
Several of Dot Calm's friends and family gathered over the weekend to celebrate her life--a life well lived.
They laughed, ate good food, and drank mimosas.
They told all the wonderful stories about her--how smart, funny, and generous she was.
They admired the beautiful photo albums of her and her family, reliving how they all grew up together.
They all told how much they loved and miss her.
They managed not to bawl like babies as they celebrated her wonderful life, each expressing how grateful he or she was to have known the beautiful, brilliant, and too good Dot Calm.
She would have disclaimed the kudos and ducked under the table at such effusion...she was an introvert and hated attention, but somehow that never stopped her as an artist from dressing like a Barbie doll and stopping traffic and turning heads wherever she went...but she would have loved the celebration!
So, from all of us to all of you...
If you still have your mother, hug her today for Dot Calm's daughters.
If you still have your favorite sister, hug her today for Dot Calm's sisters and brothers.
If you still have your wife, hug her today for Mr. Calm.
If you still have your best friend, hug him or her today for all of us who so wish we could just hug and kiss Dot Calm and hear her voice and her great laugh one more time.
And have a toast to Dot Calm!
Oh, and stay tuned to this blog--I'll be sharing those wonderful stories as opportunities arise.
Have a great day and Happy Holidays from us to you!
