Happy Dot Calm's Birthday, y'all!
Treason's greedings, everyone!
Winter solstice--aka Dot Calm's birthday--is a time when I usually reminisce about how brilliant, compassionate, funny, and passionate Dot Calm was and how grieved I remain that she is gone.
Soldiering on without her does not get any easier, it seems.
Alas, this year, I am still so focused on getting my dad better and getting him home that I just don't have the bandwidth to write something lovely about Dot Calm, even though she certainly deserves it.
She also deserves that we all soldier on against the sick, evil, fascist, sadistic autocrats in the White House and the Republican Party.
Fighting them tooth and nail with everything we got is one small way we can honor this great lady.
So often, Dot would say that, when she died, she wanted to be put in a shopping cart. She did not want to be buried. She wanted to be cremated and sprinkled over her beloved Trent and Neuse rivers in New Bern, North Carolina. She didn't want as much as a headstone. She wanted to slide on out as if she'd never been here.
Little did she know how much of a lasting, loving impact she'd continue to have on those of us who love her.
Hopefully, this time next year, we'll have evicted the traitors from OUR government and started our country on a healing path where we can all be more relaxed and joyful. And then, I hope, I will write a post worthy of my precious namesake, Dot Calm.
Until then, be well, dear ones; take care of yourselves and your loved ones--especially your elder rellies because they're counting on you.

P.S.--did you know that Dot Calm and Frank Zappa had the same exact birthday? How cool is that?!
