Hi, guys!

Republicans have moved so far right that anything even remotely resembling sanity
looks extremely liberal.

Dear Democrats -

Now is not the time to stay home from the polls...unless you want to let Republicans roll back 150 years of science education and social justice...As Nevada's Catherine Cortez Masto, who's running for Senate, says:
Last month, the Supreme Court agreed to take up the most important case concerning women's rights since Roe v. Wade. The New York Times even said this decision will be the "most consequential" case the Court will rule on this term.
Let's be clear: The ruling on this case out of Texas could severely restrict a woman's access to an abortion in a safe and nearby clinic.
With the next president sure to nominate at least one new Supreme Court justice, we need a Democratic Senate majority that will confirm justices who will protect women's rights. We need another Ginsburg, not another Scalia, on the bench – a solid progressive who will fight to defend women's health.

Leahy for Vermont

"I would never kill them, but I do hate them. And some of them are such lying, disgusting people," Donald Trump said on Mo‌nday night.

This is not Donald Trump, front runner in the race for the presidential nomination, talking about ISIS, the Taliban, or Boko Haram. No, this is Donald Trump talking about American news reporters.

"I would never kill them," he repeated to supporters at his rally, after a smiling pause for 'comic' effect.

This rhetoric is chilling. But this is not an aberration.

Trump frequently refers to members of his travelling press corps as liars and scum and far worse. The same reporters who write the stories that have helped his meteoric rise in the polls.

We must speak out against this dangerous rhetoric against journalists. Add your name to mine in condemning Donald Trump's words.

Intimidating, harassing, and threatening journalists is straight out of the corrosive playbook of demagogues and dictators. It has no place in America, a country founded on freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and freedom from tyranny.

Whenever I feel the campaign for the Republican presidential nomination has hit a new low, it seems Donald Trump holds another rally and drags us all down further.

It's depressing. It's disgusting. It's disturbing. And unless we speak out, it will join earlier sordid chapters of our history.

Please join me in condemning Donald Trump's threatening rhetoric targeting news reporters and free speech.

Sincerely,
Patrick Leahy
U.S. Senator

This morning, Donald Trump implored Germany to "GET SMART"--especially about their city called "Paris." Can we now all agree that Donald Trump has overplayed his hand as a ham-fisted performance artist? But don't think that people who are stupid about geography never get to be president. Remember George W. Bush? He thought that the capital of terrorism was in Iraq.
-- Mrs. Betty Bowers,
in response to Donald Trump's tweet "Man shot inside Paris police station. Just announced that terror threat is at highest level. Germany is a total mess-big crime. GET SMART!"

...What do you expect from a man whose campaign ads talk about the US-Mexican border while showing Morocco?
I'd also like to know what a "mess-big" is.
And why is Teh Dumald twit-tering about the old 60s spy sit-com with Don Adams?

How many hours do you need to work to pay your rent?
Matthew Segal, ATTN:
Jan 3

ATTN:'s most popular story this week was about America's affordable housing crisis. You might be surprised to learn that in literally no state in America is it possible for minimum wage workers to afford a one-bedroom apartment at fair market rent, which is about $806 per month (assuming you work a standard 40-hour week). Affordable rent, according to the Department of Housing and Urban Development, is rent that does not exceed more than 30 percent of your income. Families who spend more than 30 percent of their income on rent are considered "cost burdened," with little room for necessities such as food, clothing, transportation, and medical care.

If there's a small silver lining to this unfortunate reality, it's that minimum wage increases just went into effect in 14 states on January 1, 2016. Now that we're in an election year, the topic of worker pay promises to grow in relevance. Do you support raising the minimum wage? Let us know here.
