Won’t You Turn Your Purple State Blue?

Long before Wendy Davis entered the national spotlight as a champion for the rights of women and candidate for Governor she spent years fending off Republican attacks in the Texas State Senate time and again.

Texas isn't the only place where Republicans have gone after women and their right to reproductive freedom--and where strong Democrats are standing up to fight back against Tea Party extremism.

From Texas to Virginia, Republicans have passed some of the most outrageous attacks on women nationwide, whether it's transvaginal ultrasounds, defunding Planned Parenthood, or banning birth control.

One of those states where women are under attack is Virginia, where DFA members will be on the ground this week in support of women.

DFA members will be going door-to-door and making phone calls for 5 candidates DFA has endorsed in this November's election.

Folks like Wendy Davis understand what it takes to stand up for progressive values in a Republican-held legislature--and are fighting with us to turn Virginia from purple to blue.
