Senator Specter, Why Have You Forsaken Us?

We need oversight, not more secretive spying. FISA court rulings must be obeyed. But Senator Specter wants to write a NEW law...one that supports the Bush administration’s policy of flouting accountability. He wants to further loosen laws. Given how accommodating the FISA rulings are, one can only ask, “Why?” Does Mr. Bush have something to hide—namely, that his dragnets are so broad that not even FISA would allow them? Why does Senator Specter, who is basically an upstanding member of Congress, want to condone and even encourage the Bush administration’s total disregard for accountability?
