Now is the time to turn off the news!

I know it sounds crazy, but now is the time to turn off the news.

I mean it.

Turn off cable news.

Scroll past political videos.

Play games instead of doom-scrolling on social media.

Don't even bother with newspapers unless someone hands you the funnies.

Just do it...and I'll tell you why.

Our media are owned by a handful of billionaires--that's why.

They have two goals right now. One goal is to install a christofascist authoritarian dictatorship. Failing that, their other goal is to make as much money through ads and clicks as possible between now and the announcement of Kamala Harris as our next President.

Thing is, they win either way.

If tr*mp wins, they win because they get to dismantle our democracy and execute Project 2025 via vance (they'll surely eject tr*mp via the 25th Amendment should he get that far).

If Harris wins, they win because she will continue strengthening our economy, which, thanks to President Biden, is currently the strongest among the developed nations'.

So they can't lose.

One indirect way they can win is by convincing you that your vote doesn't count because tr*mp will cheat, and republicans will rig or overturn the election--so the fascist media are hoping to sell you learned helplessness so that you don't fight for your democracy either now or when they decide they're ready to step in and burn it down.

Another indirect way they can win is by overloading you with churn and chaos so that you tune out of politics permanently and, by becoming a low-information voter or an apathetic non-voter, hand yourself, your future, your family, and your and your family's money over to them in perpetuity.

Don't give in.

Just go vote--early if you can--and continue to donate and call and volunteer and drive someone to the polls on Election Day. 

Just keep doing what you can to ensure that we win and keep our democracy, our lives, and our prosperity by voting in numbers too large for maga to mess with.

And turn off the churn, the chaos, the threats, the fears, and the doom.

It's not helping anyone...

...except the greedy billionaires.

They sure af won't help us, so why taf help them?

Billionaires wouldn't, as Frank McCourt said in "Angela's Ashes," give you the steam off their piss.

So keep the faith, pour yourself a nice drink, and switch off the media for now. If you feel compelled to grab your phone, use it to play games.
