"Thoughts and prayers" = Republican for "FUCK YOU." The rich want tax cuts? Give them thoughts and prayers instead--see how they like it!
Treason's greedings, fellow Dot Calm Readers, Freedom Fighters, and Truth Crusaders!
Alas, I'll have to blawg, blawg like the wind this evening...
If you follow me on Twitter, you know that I'm taking my 86-yr-old Navy veteran dad across the country to see his 96-year-old veteran brother.
Gotta do this sort of thing while we all still can.
But it means curtailing my time with you so that I can pack and prepare for what promises to be a great trip.
That's why I'm doing this post as an update to Monday's post rather than as a separate post--it saves me a few minutes and lets me refer you down the page rather than to a previous post. Today, I hope you'll please scroll down and keep calling the Republican bastards and telling them literally not to kill us with their tax cuts for the rich.
Sometimes, I can make the calls; sometimes, I can't. It all depends on how the job is going and whether I can nab either telework or other time out of the office. This go-round, I haven't been able to call them all...I call and e-mail whom I can when I can...so my dad has been picking up the slack like a real champion. He's on a mission to call every last one of the bastards; this week, he's been averaging 12 calls a day.
Is my dad phuquen awesome or what?!
So, now that you have your mission, if you should choose to accept it, let me hit a few highlights of this week's n00z and click "publish" so that I can run off and pack.
Deal?
Good, because here we go.
Dunno about you, but I'm still basking in the election results.
What a resounding referendum on tRUmp and tRUmpism!
New Jersey dumped corrupt Chris Christie's fat ass for Phil Murphy. Virginia thumbed its nose at Ed "mini-tRUmp" Gillespie and elected Ralph Northam. And more women, people of color, and LGBTQ+ Democrats won their respective elections than I thought possible in tRUmp's America.
If you've been following me either on le blawg or on Twitter, you know that I live in Virginia, and you know from the returns from Loudon and Chesterfield Counties--which voted for tRUmp and which usually vote Republican--that Virginians are smarter than the Greedy Oligarch Putinists give them credit for.
GOOD.
In short, we shellacked the bastards for at least two reasons I can think of: we outright rejected their bigotry, and we don't trust them not to kill us just so they can crush the carbon from our bodies into diamonds to give their rich donors.
So far, we gained an unheard-of 14 seats. We picked up so many seats that, depending on how the recounts go, we could actually gain a majority in the State House. That would be l-o-v-e-r-l-y.
If I had more time, I'd go into the election results in detail. They certainly deserve the effort. For now, I'll let Randi Rhodes dish about Virginia...
Boy, I realize that no politician is perfect and that they're all self-serving to a degree, but it is a YUGE relief to know that Ralph Northam and the Democrats in our State House will be acting as a buffer between us and tRUmp.
And I know for a fact that Ralph Northam and the Democrats in our State House aren't bigots and don't want to kill us just so they can crush the carbon from our bodies into diamonds to give their rich donors.
Whew!
Next on my list of topics: Puerto Rico.
Did you know that one of Whitefish's repairs has already failed, throwing those affected back into darkness?
Did you know that the FEMA folks have NOT been putting up sick and injured Puerto Ricans in the swanky, air conditioned hotels?
Did you know that the FEMA folks have been staying in those nice swanky hotels themselves?
That's right, friends--instead of helping those in desperate need, FEMA has been helping itself. They've been lolling in the air conditioning and dining on catered buffets, according to a guest on Margaret Prescod's "Sojourner Truth" program on WPFW today.
I'd already heard that the FEMA folks had been indulging in spa days, with labor for manis and pedis provided by embattled locals.
What do you expect when the standards bearer of their party is the most corrupt, selfish, callous thing on two fat feet?
Ethics and morality flow downhill, friends.
Next topic: the Greedy Oligarch Putinists in Congress are so treasonous...how treasonous are they?...that they categorically refuse even to be told the next time Russia hacks into and interferes in our election.
They don't just deserve to be locked up--they deserve to be strung up.
Last I heard, treason is a capitol offense.
We need to make an example of these bastards so that this shit never happens again.
GRRRRRRR!!!!!
Frankly, friends, I can't even...I just can't. The way they're destroying everything positive about our way of life, our institutions, our standing in the world...everything...makes me too fucking angry.
There are no words.
And, if there were, they'd be so incendiary that they'd probably melt teh Intert00bs if I were to use them.
Next topic: tRUmp's DOJ wants Time Warner to sell off CNN because tRUmp can't handle the truth.
That's fucking fascist at the very least and illegal at most--the predisent [sic] is not supposed to interfere to that degree with individual businesses, especially not to coddle his own personal grudges.
I don't think tRUmp and his sidekick KKKeebler elf will succeed, but it's fucking scary that they'd try--it's fucking scary that KKKeebler elf would even entertain such a notion at orange twAtler's behest. After all, Sessions has been in government since before sliced bread was invented, and he has to know that this shit is unethical if not illegal.
My next topic provides yet another reason why I wanted to make this post an update rather than a stand-alone: school backpack sellers are now offering bulletproof inserts.
Jesus ass-twerking Christ...
What kind of message are we sending our children that we have to buy them pitiful, woefully insufficient little pieces of body armor because the Republican party is so irredeemably latched onto the teat of the NRA?
Scroll down to see just a few of Dot Calm's remarks about making bulletproof vests into daily fashion.
Last topic for today: Roy Moore is a serial pedophile who justifies sexually assaulting minors by likening his behavior to the biblical story of adult Joseph espousing teenage Mary.
Excuse me while I barf.
It never fails, though--the more homophobic the Republican, Christian, whatever is, the clearer it is that he or she is gay. The ones who claim that sexual orientation is a choice are all bi. And every last abstinence-only Christian was promiscuous before marriage and/or has at least one prostitute and/or mistresses on the side.
In short, the more sanctimonious they claim to be, the more immoral they actually are according to their own standards...and the ones who come down hardest on what they call sexual immorality are the worst offenders themselves.
I feel for those poor kids Moore abused.
They never saw it coming. They were just kids. Moore's behavior followed a pattern. The four then-teenage women now on the record are surely just the tip of yet another Republican frozen shit iceberg.
Republicans have one word for Roy Moore's behavior...
...Presidential.

And now...onto this week's mass shooting.
This is a war zone!
If thoughts and prayers are so effective,
let's give the rich thoughts and prayers
instead of tax cuts.
