The following letter was sent to the President today:
Dear Mr. President:
I dragged myself out to support you with my vote. I have multiple sclerosis, the same disease American icon, Annette Funicello, died from recently.
I worked this computer overtime in supporting you, Mr. President.
Today I feel nothing less than betrayed.
Please stop privatizing everything! It is unAmerican!
Middle America is hurting. There is nothing more that can be taken.
It is unconscionable to witness the destruction of the sacred institutions of our country; they are what makes America great.
The slow demise of Social Security will be nothing less than a tragedy if you fire the first salvo. Not since Bush’s attack has SS been under such intense scrutiny.
What will happen to the sick and the elderly once their payments are reduced?
Is the Government prepared to house the veterans who devoted their lives whenever they were called to duty? Can you reduce their benefits with a clear conscience?
Please consider increasing the Minimum Wage to $9/hour. While it still isn’t a living wage, the modest increase will help so many.
After witnessing years of the Bush Administration funneling America’s wealth to their own, it is heartbreaking to see how the middle class is being destroyed.
I appreciate there are many masters for whom you must dance. However, your allegiance must remain with the middle class; we were so instrumental in supporting your presidency.
Today, it appears a vote for Mitt Romney would have resulted in no less of an attack on the middle class than what we are presently witnessing.
I am disappointed, Mr. President, very disappointed.
