Oligarchy?

There are a few realizations that we Americans must face as our country limps along on a badly compromised democracy.

The Supreme Court has consisted of a majority of extreme Republicans for several generations in recent history.

When someone had the bright idea of letting the Court select the President in the 2000 election, of course a Republican was chosen despite the fact that the Democrat clearly had a significant majority of the popular vote.

That decision only emboldened the Court in its pursuit of future decisions that would gradually move the Country away from Democracy and toward Oligarchy.

The recent decision to lift limitations on campaign financing has dramatically eroded any sense of the Democracy as we knew it.

The Republican Party represents wealthy Americans much the way the Whigs did in England and the Tories there represented the people.

In the United States the Republican Party is the Party of wealth, while the Democratic Party is the Party of the people.

While we’re on this subject the Republican Party has attempted to rename the Democratic Party as the Democrat Party. Worse is the fact that some Democrats are actually saying the Democrat Party. If that is the case, then what do they call the folks who are in that Party? Hmm, thought so...you Pubs don’t have an answer to that, do you? It is the Democratic Party. The people who support the Democratic Party are Democrats!

Because of the Court’s recent ruling, it only stands to reason that the Country will eventually be ruled by its Captains and its Kings. With the middle class successfully eliminated, there will be the wealthy class, the professional class and, of course, the poor.

Once the middle class has been methodically eliminated, those pesky Unions will disappear as well.

In the 1992 election candidate Ross Perot prophetically stated that the sucking sound we were hearing was that of our union jobs going overseas. We didn’t get it then; we do now.
