UNIVERSITY PARK, Texas, April 21 (UPI) -- Members of the Southern Methodist University feral cat program in Texas said the George W. Bush presidential library will leave the felines without a home.
Althea Webb, a volunteer with the university-funded program, said feral cats are relocated every time the school demolishes or creates a building and their current home, the future site of the George W. Bush Presidential Center, is difficult to move the felines away from because of the difficulty in getting the cats to migrate across streets, The Dallas Morning News reported Wednesday.
"It's hard to move cats," Webb said. "Cats don't like to move."
She said volunteers move the colonies of feral cats by relocating shelters by small increments.
Webb said she is concerned officials with the Bush library will want the cats completely off the property.
"The Bush library is going to want to be new and beautiful," she said. "We'd love to have elegant matching kitty condos, but we're not going to do that."
